About the Prefaces
Welcome to the living history of the Homer Family History book.
As you read through this record, you will find four distinct prefaces. Rather than combining or replacing them, we have preserved each one in its original form. Each preface marks a milestone in this book’s journey, offering a unique window into the era it was produced and the heart of the family member who stepped up to preserve our shared legacy.
Think of these introductions as a timeline of our family’s dedication to keeping our history alive:
- 1942 Preface – Written by Rachel Maretta Homer Crockett, the original author who laid the foundation for everything that followed.
- 1976 Preface – Added by Bryce King Homer when he reprinted and distributed 2,000 copies at the landmark Russell King Homer family reunion.
- 2016 Preface – Added by Richard Lee Jardine to mark the book’s transition into the digital age, expanding its reach online.
Together, these voices span nearly a century of stewardship. We invite you to read them in chronological order to appreciate how our family’s story has been protected, passed down, and celebrated through the generations.
